Costello's is a long-standing neighborhood bar in JP. The tavern includes the JAM kitchen open Mon-Thur 12pm-12am and Fri-Sat 12pm-1am. The menu is pretty typical bar food - burgers, sandwiches, steak tips and chicken tenders.

Ghazal's philosophy is to emphasize on refined yet authentic indian cuisine. The menu incorporates both traditional classic favorites and original new dishes that apply eastern flavors with a twist. Whether dining or organizing a party, you will get first service and engaging atmosphere all across.

This is a fantastic neighborhood Japanese restaurant. There is a take-out window when you first walk in - be sure to check out the daily specials before you order, there's usually at least one amazing offering there. If you want to eat in you have two options: sit at one of the tables or at the sushi bar. JP Seafood Cafe offers great lunch specials in bento boxes and entrees at diner are great as well. Their specialty is sushi and that's the main draw.

A lovely Indian dining experience, Bukhara's chef specialties include the Tandoori Duck Masala ($14), and regional Banglore and Madras meals such as Lamb Dosa ($10). Lunch buffet daily and weekend brunch buffet noon-3pm. Lovely selection of wines and a small bar in the back, where you can sit to wait for your table (which you will have to do if you go in at peak times on the weekend). The booths here are gorgeous red leather and the food comes out in hammered copper vessels that are placed over candles to stay warm. It's those little details that make dining at Bukhara a pleasurable experience, but in the end the food is excellent and that's what counts the most. The family that runs Wonder Spice is always bustling around the place and they are really friendly. It's a testament that the original restaurant was a very small space mainly taken up but the open kitchen (the area where you walk in was it!) Then they took over the area next door when it went vacant and expanded seating dramatically - and still you'll wait for a table at peak dinner hours. They have outdoor seating out back in the warmer months too. Check out the specials - the "pine nuts" one is a real winner. It's been on the special menu for years and I hope it stays there forever. The beer and wine selection is small but well-chosen and your always sure to see someone you know as all of JP eats here from time to time.

The Real Deal, a popular deli in West Roxbury, recently opened up shop in the old Emack and Bolio's spot (and more formerly Brigham's) on Centre Street. The restaurant serves gourmet sandwiches and thin-crust pizza, among other things, and will continue to carry Emack and Bolio's ice cream. The extensive menu boasts 43 sandwiches, 19 wraps, 7 paninis including 'The Cuban', 16 salads, 9 burgers and 9 pizzas. The hotspot boasts mafioso-esque signature sandwiches and "gangster wraps" ranging from the Michael Corleone (genoa salami, capiccola and provolone) to the Tony Soprano (zesty cajun roast beef with horseradish and swiss). Also, the walls are covered with sandwich-inspired caricatures including playful depictions of the Lucy Goosey (roast turkey) and the Donnie Brasco (maple turkey). Plenty of seating. The only bad thing is there's no wifi. Which isn't always a bad thing!

Just in case you don't want to go down to the Dunkins on the next block (the one with the parking lot) - stop in at this one conveniently located within Store 24. JP doesn't really do franchises (as a rule), but Dunkin Donuts is part of the psyche of Bostonians so it doesn't count.
